When Alan* moved into a Chartwell service, he was supported by two staff. He was unsettled and anxious and would experience behaviours which challenged the service.
Through consistent and positive support, Alan’s anxiety levels have decreased. Staff actively support Alan and promote positive behaviours. Physical changes to the environment, some areas of which increased Alan’s anxiety, have been made and he has been actively involved in redecorating his room.
His love of arts and crafts is also being supported by the staff team, and this activity has also been shown to actively decrease his levels of anxiety.
And most exciting of all, Alan recently was supported by staff on holiday, a trip which he enjoyed immensely – the break was such a success that he is now planning another holiday to Disneyland Paris.
